Without supervision, do you believe that most workers would circumvent OSHA rules if it means that they can get the job done faster? If so, how can it be impressed upon employees to do the job the OSHA way even when they are unsupervised?

AN EXAMPLE…

I definitely think that some workers would circumvent OSHA standards, especially if it means getting the job faster. Many times at different jobs, during different trainings I have been told by another employee “They want us to do it this way, but if no one is looking you can do it this way and it gets the job done faster.” It is very common for people to forget rules when they are not being watched. I think the biggest thing would be not to rely on other employees to train new employees and have the employers do it. That way they are trained on exactly how it should be done. And many times, the way that a person is trained is how they will usually do the job. I would also, as the employer, have annual or bi-annual meetings about the importance of safety and discuss all the risks associated with not following OSHA standards.
