Risk assessment and mitigation plan

Prepare a risk assessment and mitigation plan in Microsoft Word based on proposed strategies, budget, risk appetite, and other considerations. Identify a security risk you feel comfortable describing. You may need to research this. One way to find a risk is to use a vulnerability system such as the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures site (https://cve.mitre.org/cve/search_cve_list.html). (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. In that site you can enter a keyword and find an identified vulnerability, by searching for keywords such as “excel” or “mysql” or “ubuntu” or “active directory” or any other technology. Prepare a five-scale (Very Low to Very High) risk matrix for your chosen risk. Determine overall likelihood from likelihood of occurrence and likelihood of adverse impact. Consider the multiple dimensions of severity as discussed. Explain all your choices. Perform a CVSS calculation (You can use the simple model in the Excel spreadsheet) to calculate a Base Score, a Temporal Score and an Environmental Score for your identified risk. (If you use the spreadsheet model, please fill in all fields and reproduce this in your Word document.)
