For your Summative Written Assignment 1, you will write a 1,500-word essay (+/- 5%). The summative essay is worth 20% of your overall mark for the AECT module. Your essay should be a critical response to one the following question from the perspective of your main discipline of study:
1. To what extent has globalisation been successful?
2. To what extent is art needed in modern society?
3. To what extent can science or technology solve the most pressing issues of today?
You are therefore permitted to modify and/or narrow the focus of your choice of title above to reflect the perspective/discipline area from which you are approaching the question, but please check this with your AECT tutor. You are expected to support your arguments using academic sources. Note that you must not submit the same/similar assignment, in its entirety or parts (paragraphs or sentences), for another module. Such duplication would be regarded as plagiarism, and would be detected by Turnitin software. Your essay should be aimed at an educated audience with no specialist knowledge of the subject.
